Behind The Lens: The Parking Garage Photoshoot
In a creative world, some moments transcend the ordinary and become truly extraordinary. These moments often come from the heart, fueled by passion and creativity. Today, I want to share with you the story behind my passion projects, a practice that not only captures a moment in time but also represents a journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
Discovering the Power of Photography
As a photographer, I have always been drawn to the power of storytelling through images. Each photograph I take is a piece of my soul, a reflection of my innermost thoughts and emotions. Photography is more than just a hobby or a job; it is a way to communicate and connect with others on a deep and meaningful level.
My journey with photography began when I graduated college. Although, as a child, I taught myself graphic design, and photography was sprinkled in during family vacations. I was fascinated by the way a single image could capture so much emotion and tell a story without using words. I would spend some time looking through old family photo albums, mesmerized by the stories each picture told. This fascination grew into a passion, and I soon found myself with a camera in hand, eager to create my own stories through photographs.

The Birth of an Idea
The idea of my passion projects came to me during a period of introspection and reflection. I wanted to create something that was not only visually stunning but also deeply meaningful. I wanted to design a passion project that would not only showcase my skills as a photographer but also inspire others to pursue their creative endeavors for personal growth.
The Planning Process
Planning for the project was an exciting and challenging process. We wanted to create a series of photographs that not only showcased our styles but also highlighted the power of collaboration and shared passion. We spent weeks brainstorming ideas, scouting locations, and gathering props. We wanted every detail to be perfect, from the lighting to the composition.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was finding the right location. We wanted a place that was both visually stunning and had a deep personal connection to our project. After much searching, we finally found the perfect spot - the top of the parking garage. The parking garage was filled with natural light and had a raw, city feel that perfectly matched our vision.

The Photoshoot
The day of the photoshoot was filled with excitement and anticipation. We arrived at the parking garage early in the afternoon, eager to start capturing our vision. The light was perfect, casting long shadows and highlighting the textures around.
We spent hours shooting and experimenting with different angles and compositions. Perfect, JR and I worked seamlessly together, each of us bringing our unique perspective and style to the project. It was a true collaboration, with both of us pushing each other to be our best.
One of the most memorable moments of the day came when we had to change parking garage locations. As we were shooting in the parking lot security told us we could not continue, unless we were only using a non-detachable lens. We didn't want any problems so we moved to another location and were able to finish up the photoshoot.

Capturing the Iconic Shot
The final shot of the day turned out to be the most iconic. As Perfect was posing effortlessly, I told myself "I have to catch this!". I adjusted my camera settings, took a deep breath, and pressed the shutter. The result was a photograph that perfectly captured the essence of our project - a moment frozen in time, filled with emotion and meaning.
This shot was more than just a beautiful image; it was a testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and personal growth. It represented the journey that Perfect, JR, and I had embarked on together, and the lessons we had learned along the way.

The Aftermath
After the photoshoot, I spent hours editing the photographs, carefully selecting the best shots and enhancing their colors and textures. I wanted each image to be a true reflection of our vision and the emotions we had captured.
When the final series was complete, I shared the images on my website and social media. The response was overwhelming. People were moved by the photographs and the story behind them. Many reached out to share their own stories of personal growth and creative endeavors.
Lessons Learned
Through this project, I learned the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing new challenges. I discovered that true growth comes from pushing past boundaries and exploring the unknown. And most importantly, I realized that passion projects are not just about creating beautiful images, but about connecting with others and inspiring them to pursue their creative dreams.
The Power of Passion Projects
Passion projects are an essential part of a creator's journey. They allow us to explore new ideas, experiment with different techniques, and push ourselves to be better. They remind us why we fell in love with our craft in the first place and reignite our passion for creating.
For me, this project was a turning point in my career. It reminded me of the power of photography and the impact it can have on others. It taught me the importance of collaboration and the magic that can happen when two creative minds come together.
